The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Elisabet Ney Chapter DC, VA, and MD have been granted permission by the United States Congress in Public Law 116–248, to establish a commemorative and educational memorial in Washington DC to honor the Republic of Texas Legation to Washington. We envision a modest size memorial at or near one of the sites where the Republic of Texas Legation lived and worked. The process is not complete. There is a twenty-four- step process that must be achieved that includes a site selection study, environmental analysis, design of the memorial, and ten percent of design and construction costs goes to future maintenance We are looking for a grant, a corporate donation, or personal donations to complete this goal.
